experience the adventure

Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway or an adventure-filled trip, there are plenty of opportunities to choose from during your stay at The Nature Inn.  The Inn is a great starting point for hours of adventure in Bald Eagle State Park, on FJ Sayers Lake, around Centre County and throughout the PA Wilds. You'll find that our knowledgeable staff is always eager to share their favorite nearby activities and attractions, and freely offer advice for your specific areas of interest.

Guests enjoy spending evenings out at the fire pit, playing board games in our library, grilling a meal out on the patio or reading a book in the Children’s Discovery area. We also partner with the park to provide loaner equipment to our guests! During fishing season, fishing poles and small tackle boxes are available to borrow. Children under sixteen can fish without a state license, but all others will want to be sure to have theirs handy. During the winter months, we have snowshoes and cross-country ski equipment available for guests to explore the beautiful, snowy trails.

Bald Eagle State Park also offers a wide variety of outdoor activities to fill any stay!  Get out and hike the Skyline Trail and Butterfly Trail, both of which connect directly to the Inn. Bike the park roads and trails or launch your boat from one of the many public boat ramps.  Kayak Bald Eagle Creek or the wildlife-filled coves and marshes. Fish directly from the lake shore or from a rental boat from the marina. Use your guestroom binoculars to get a closer look at the wide variety of birds that visit our park throughout the year.

Central Pennsylvania

Adventures aren't limited to the Park.  Penn’s Cave and Wildlife Park is home to America’s only all-water cavern which visitors explore by boat.  It also includes a farm-nature-wildlife tour by bus, a cave rock mountain tour by Jeep and even a miner’s maze and gemstone panning for the kids!

Guided horseback trail rides bring guests through the vivid green woods and across mountain streams at Wildfire Ranch. If you are looking to try your hand at fly fishing, The Feathered Hook offers guided trips with Pennsylvania native guides as you explore the area’s world-class trout streams. Tussey Mountain Outfitters brings the paddling adventure to you by delivering all of your group's kayaks, canoes and equipment and providing shuttle service for your group outing.

There’s always more to explore in the PA Wilds, with over 2 million acres of public forest, hundreds of miles of land and water trails and abundant outdoor recreation possibilities. Try a glass of locally made craft beer, spirits, cider or wine by following the Central PA Tasting Trail. Spend a day exploring, learning and more in Elk County, home to the largest elk herd in the northeastern United States.
