The lake

foster joseph sayers lake

The 1,730-acre lake is the focal point for water-based recreation in Bald Eagle State Park. Motorized boating, paddle boarding, swimming, water skiing and fishing are just some of the many activities that you can take advantage of at the F.J. Sayers Lake. There is an abundant amount of wildlife that the lake attracts, including snapping turtles and birds such as osprey, great blue heron and the occasional bald eagle. If you are looking for a view of the lake off the water, the Lakeside Trail provides an excellent, more challenging shaded hike along the base of Bald Eagle Mountain.

Boating

Whether you bring your own boat or are interested in renting a boat from Boats & Bikes at the park marina, a day on the water at FJ Sayers Lake is the perfect addition to your stay at The Nature Inn.

Fishing

Whether you want to fire up the 250hp bass boat and pursue trophy largemouth, sit on the shore with friends and enjoy a relaxing day of pan fishing or wade through our world-class limestone creeks for big browns, The Nature Inn is your fishing destination.

Swimming

During the warmer months at the park, there is a beach area within walking distance of the inn for public use. Take a short walk from the inn on the Skyline Trail or pack the car up to go and spend the day splashing around in the sun!

Kayaking

From kayaking on the lake to trips down one of the nearby streams, there is an adventure for everyone with all of the paddling options nearby! Bring your own kayak or canoe or rent them at the marina or local outfitters!
